Survival and Resilience

In contrast to my works that tackle the broader range of changes that are happening to our planet that have consequences, an adjunct theme of nature’s resilience has inspired my new works. Destruction, whether caused by fire or by human activity, is a constant environmental threat; however, the capacity of ecosystems, species, and organisms to adapt and regenerate enables species to survive. Life networks beneath the earth’s surface have survived from the beginning of life on this planet and continue to evolve to adjust to extreme changes in the environment. All life on land is linked back in time to these networks and all life on land depends on these networks.

This resilience of nature fascinates me and gives me a glimmer of hope, and it inspires me. The Survival and Resiliency sculptures, prints and paintings explore the possibilities and potentiality of future species to adapt to changing environments to survive.
